Non-BC teacher education programs

Data from the Sustainable Teacher Workforce Labour Market Information Report shows that in 2016/17, 28% of newly certified teachers in BC were trained outside of the province. Most of these new teachers trained in Ontario and Alberta (44% and 25% respectively), followed by Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

If you’re planning to attend a career fair out of province, it can be useful to know how many students from a given university or area decide to become certified to teach in BC.

The following table shows where newly certified teachers in BC received their teacher education training.
